Ardha Kumbha Haridwar

Ardha Kumbh Mela 2016

Kumbh Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith in which Hindus gather to bathe in a sacred river. It is considered to be the largest peaceful gathering in the world with as many as 80 million people participating in the last Maha Kumbh Mela.

It is believed that bathing during Kumbh cures the bather of all sins and evils and grants the bather salvation. It is also believed that at the time of Kumbh Yog, the water of Ganga is charged with positive healing effects by enhanced electromagnetic radiations of the Sun, Moon and Jupiter.

The festival is visited by the most amazing saints from all across India. The Naga Sadhus are one such who never wear any clothes and are smeared in ash from head to toe. They have long matted hair and are not at all affected by the extremes of heat and cold. Then there are the Urdhwavahurs, who believe in putting the body through severe austerities. There are the Parivajakas, who have taken a vow of silence and go about tinkling little bells to get people out of their way. The Shirshasins stand all 24 hours and meditate for hours standing on their heads. Spending the entire month of Kumbh on the banks of Ganga, meditating, performing rituals and bathing thrice a day, are the Kalpvasis.

Our Services

Witnessing such an event is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most people but thoughts of braving such a mass of humanity deter all except the most devout. In order to enable you to visit the Ardha Kumbha Mela Haridwar 2016, Aalia Resort has made arrangements wherein you will be provided an escorted visit for snan (bathing) at Har-ki-pauri along with an opportunity to witness and interact with the sadhus.

To make the most of the spiritual energy of the Ganga at this auspicious time you can also bathe in the holy river every morning and evening at the resort itself, thus avoiding the incessant crowds at Har-ki-pauri.

Why choose us?

Aalia is located on the outskirts of Haridwar on NH 74 and not on the crowded NH 58. Thus travel to and from Aalia to Delhi can be along the Meerut-Bijnor-Haridwar route which helps avoid the traffic and crowds on the main road and the city of Haridwar.

Our special Ardha Kumbh package includes an escorted visit to Har-ki-pauri for snan to give you a close up look at the festivities and visiting sadhus.
