Religious

The Ganges is the most sacred river to Hindus and is regarded as a mother and goddess. Its waters are considered both pure as well as purifying that can cleanse a person's soul of all sins. For a Hindu a pilgrimage to the Ganges to take a dip in its holy water is to be done at least once in his lifetime as the river is a 'teerth', a crossing point between heaven and earth. In north-western India, Haridwar is considered the most auspicious place for performing Hindu last rites and immersing the ashes of the departed in the Ganga’s holy waters.

The 2,525 km long river rises from the Gangotri glacier in the western Himalayas and flows into the Bay of Bengal in east India. It brings fertility to the north Indian Gangetic plains and is a lifeline to millions of Indians who live along its course and depend on it for their daily needs.

Har ki Pauri

Our Services

Perched on the banks of the Ganges, Aalia offers an unmatched opportunity to have a cleansing dip in the holy river every morning and evening. At sunset we offer a Ganga aarti ceremony for those looking to partake the ritual but who wish to avoid travelling to the city ghats.

We also make arrangements for a 'snan' and aarti at Har-ki-pauri for the devout who wish to experience the spectacle of the famous Haridwar aarti, that is an amazing sight with hundreds of lighted lamps floating down the river.

Some dates are considered more auspicious than others for a holy dip and most of these fall on either the new moon – ‘Amavasya’ or full moon – ‘Purnima’ every month.
Next Purnima – 6th September, Wednesday (Bhadrapada Purnima)
Next Amavasya – 20th September, Wednesday (Ashwin Amavasya)
Haridwar is also the base for the 'Chaar Dham Yatra'
